By Dale Gorman, Executive Director of Kids’ Community Dental Clinic
The Kids’ Community Dental Clinic in Burbank, CA recently hosted a Sealant Fair where dental practitioners provided sealant and fluoride treatments to children in the local community. The event kicked off with a Continuing Education Class on sealants led by PULPDENTTM Corporation’s Sandra Furnari RDH, Education specialist. Ms. Furnari talked to volunteer hygienists from the San Fernando Valley Dental Hygienist’s Society about EMBRACE™ WetBond™ Pit & Fissure Sealant, which is moisture tolerant and integrates with the tooth to eliminate microleakage. Margins are imperceptible.
After the training the volunteer hygienists immediately went to work and placed 38 sealants over the course of the event. The free treatments also included Fluoride Varnish for every child, given at the conclusion of the appointment. The hygienists were overseen by Dr. Devoree Prepsky, DDS, whose practice is located in Woodland Hills. The Sealant Fair was made possible through support from PULPDENTTM Corporation and the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation. The Kids’ Community Dental Clinic hopes to host more events for free services so that every child can have a healthy smile!
